2015 AMCHP Call for Session Proposals
Deadline: Friday, August 22, 2014 at 12:00 AM EST/ 8:00 PM PST

The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) invites you to submit a session proposal for the 2015 AMCHP Annual Conference (January 24 – 27). The theme is United to Build Healthier Communities. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

The AMCHP Annual Conference is the ideal venue to present your ideas, research, innovative programming, best practices, and effective outreach strategies to MCH and other public health practitioners, directors of state programs, federal officials, advocates, family leaders, researchers, and healthcare providers.

There are three (3) types of sessions to be held during the AMCHP conference, as described in the table below. You will be asked to select a preferred session type for your proposal; however, preference cannot be guaranteed and your proposal may be selected for another session type.

Skills-Building Training 3 hours Skills-building sessions precede the AMCHP conference and differ from sessions offered during the conference in that they are longer (3-hours in length), highly interactive sessions designed to teach specific skills or allow for more in-depth exploration of an area of knowledge, and include opportunities for session attendees to practice the new skill(s) or apply new knowledge with carefully planned exercises or demonstrations. This type of session is not intended for presenting the results of a project or paper. Saturday, Jan. 24 Yes Max. 3 presenters plus 1 moderator (moderator may be selected from among the presenters, or may be an additional person who will not otherwise present)
Workshop 60 Minutes of information sharing Workshops are informative sessions that often include a panel of presenters representing varying perspectives, include audience interaction and allot a minimum of 20 minutes for Q&A. Sunday, Jan. 25 – Tuesday, Jan. 27 Yes Max. 3 presenters plus 1 moderator (moderator may be selected from among the presenters, or may be an additional person who will not otherwise present)
Poster n/a Graphic presentation of research or program results to be placed on an 8’ long x 4’ tall poster board. One author must be available at the conference to set-up, answer questions during poster presentations, and dismantle. Sunday, Jan. 25 – Tuesday, Jan, 27 No Max. 6 poster authors (hereafter “presenters”), at least one of which will attend poster-related events at the conference
Before you start your submission, please consider what you want to communicate to the audience and what interactive elements you will employ (required for all sessions). In addition, think about how your presentation applies to the conference theme of United to Build Healthier Communities and the session tracks. Accepted proposals will have well thought-out descriptions that are applicable to this year’s conference theme. Incomplete proposals or those with weak descriptions (overly general, unfocused, etc.) will not be considered.

If you created an account for the 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014 AMCHP Annual Conferences, your login will be the same.
